Draymond Green apologizes for Barkley jab after Warriors critique

Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green apologized for comments targeting Charles Barkley's late-career performance with the Houston Rockets. Green made the remarks on TNT's "Inside the NBA" in response to Barkley's assertion that the Warriors' championship era has ended. On his podcast "The Draymond Green Show," Green clarified he intended no disrespect and offered a public apology if perceived that way.

Barkley, on May 6, stated the Warriors' title window had closed due to the age of their core, including Green. He suggested Green would need to leave Golden State, his only NBA franchise, for another championship. Green referenced Barkley's final two seasons in Houston, where Barkley acknowledged underperforming but accepted the contract money.

Barkley joined the Rockets in 1996-97 after a trade from the Phoenix Suns and retired at age 36 in 2000, posting career averages of 22.1 points and 11.7 rebounds over 16 seasons. Green turned 36 in March, while teammate Stephen Curry turned 38 months ago.

Barkley dismissed Green's comments on Arizona Sports 98.7 FM's "Bickley and Marotta" and "The Dan Patrick Show," calling Green a good player but not on his level and expressing no offense.
